As a warming up to a meeting, building a safe working environment and trustful setting:

A set of pictures are scattered on the floor or a table. The participants are standing in a circle around the pictures. The pictures you chose can be photographs, but also representations of art works or any other visual material. Always take at least 30% pictures more than persons present.

Ask the participants a question about something you would like to know. Ask about an experience, a memory, a past event, associations with persons, a place etc. so that they can present themselves to others with the image as a helping element.

Examples:

“Chose the picture that corresponds best to your personality?”

“Please chose a picture that corresponds to everyday life at the office”

“Which picture corresponds best to your favorite holiday destination?”

“What picture qualifies cooperation with your colleagues best?”

“ What does inclusion mean to you? Chose a picture that fits your point of view”.

“Before you, you see a set of pictures representing your neighbourhood. Which place or situation fits your experience in the neighbourhood best? Etc.

The trainer will point someone and ask: ‘I am curious why you chose this picture? What does it mean to you?’ the person shows the picture to the group and tells how the image corresponds to the question asked. After that this person points someone else and asks: ‘ I  am curious about the picture you chose. What does it mean to you in the light of the question asked?’

After a couple of rounds, depending on the energy in the group and further activities, the trainer finalizes the exercice, by asking the group how they appreciated it.
